Grenada gets a library

Yesterday I attended the launch of the Grenada Community Library and Resource Centre. The library is the brainchild of author and social activist Oonya Kempadoo. It’s hard to believe that it has been more than a decade since hurricane Ivan destroyed the national library. Since then, there has been a void and this is now filled by the GCLRC.

Spread the word. Let others know the library is here and open to all. It boasts a wide selection of books that will fit the reading preference of all. The library is located at Lucas Street, St. George’s, opposite the law office of Henry Henry & Bristol and opens Monday to Saturday from 10am. Support the library if you can by way of donations of volunteering your time. The librabry is a non-profit, so all support will be appreciated.

Carlana Charles is the visionary and editor-in-chief of FemmePowered. She is a womanist, writer, speaker, story midwife and facilitator of meaningful and engaging conversations. When she is not working in or on FemmePowered, she can be found resting, baking, reading or scribbling furiously in her journal whilst sipping wine or coffee, sometimes both at the same time. She is currently working on her first book and hopes to release it in September 2017.
