The fellowship of women

Happy Friday ladies. It feels like just a few days ago I was looking forward to the start of the new year and now, here I am, realizing that in just another week, it’ll be the end of February.

Today I want to share this with you:

I think the Universe has a sense of humor and is always looking to work with and through us. Yes, the Universe is always at play making connections and creating delightful, serendipitous moments for us – Carlana Charles

I believe the Universe is big on fellowship. I’ve been musing on this for a few weeks now and more so since spending much of yesterday with Tash Mitch and Carol Vazquez, the other two women I’ll be sharing with at Transform Your Story, Transform Your Life. And since reading Big Magic, it’s hard to get me to see otherwise.

I know, I know – you’re probably thinking, how does the Universe fit into this story. Well, allow me to explain. I stumbled across Tash via social media sometime in early 2015 and I’ve lurked on her site since then. Something just kept pulling me back. So I decided to myself that she was someone I’d someday like to connect with beyond the blog. Some months later, I connected with Carol when we were part of a review team that worked on the framework for a new national project. But I knew of her before that. She is president of the Grenada Association of Retired Persons (GARP) and the former HR Manager of the St. George’s University. She was also my sister’s boss at one time and my sis always spoke of  the heart and presence of this woman. Knowing what I knew I made sure that I introduced myself to her and on the first day of the three days workshop. An easy and comfortable relationship was born and I found a friend, mentor and a wise woman.

Now here’s where it gets interesting.  When KayNicole and I were looking at the speaker line up for FemmePowered’s first event,  Sisterhood In Motion, we knew we wanted Carol. As the president and founder of GARP who else was fitting to speak on the topic of women and aging? We proposed and she was game. And on the day of the event she shows up with her daughter who was visiting from the UK, Tash Mitch! And she was not just there to support her mom, but she was very present, taking in all the contributions of the other speakers. It was clear she was enjoying the fellowship of women. We connected after that, in the flesh, and now we are all working on Transform Your Story, Transform Your Life. And that, dear reader, is why I say that the Universe has a sense of humor, is a fan of fellowship and a connector for those creative and passionate about their craft. As Tash said to me yesterday, when you put things out there you never know from which angle it’ll come back. I’m paraphrasing here of course. She said it in a way to was deep and caused me to pause for a moment. And it’s true. Doing this work had proven to me that I’ll always be surprised how my work and efforts come back to me.

We’ve been working on producing an event that will be truly transformational. It’s not just part of the event’s title, but our desire and mission. We really want people to walk away with some seeds of transformation, begging to spring forth and create newness in their lives. Yesterday were on two television stations on their morning program to promote the event and then we spent time going through the logistics and last minute planning to ensure that the space and environment works well. We took a little break to fill our tummies at Le Papillion (the grub is good) and to take a few pics (see above) before getting back to work. We really hope to see you at the event next Saturday. Please get in touch if you have questions or would like to register.
