Last weekend, September 24-25, hundreds of freelancers from all over the world convened online to attend the first ever International Freelancers Day. The event was sponsored by Social Media Examiner, Freshbooks, Kit Digital, Elance, American Writers & Artists Inc., and The Wealthy Freelancer.

I would say that despite the technical problems experienced during the event, the IFD was a success. This is based on the reaction of those who attended. Attendees were not only interacting through Wibiya chat on site, but they were also interacting in IFD

Making the Most Out of Your Internet Marketing VA

Published by CarlanaCharles on September 9th, 2010

Marketing virtual assistants can be very useful for your business. Aside from the usual Internet marketing tasks of article marketing, social bookmarking, and blogging; you can also ask your marketing VA to do the following:

  • Create marketing materials. Marketing virtual assistants are usually knowledgeable in desktop publishing. Ask your marketing to redesign your business cards. Such a VA would also come in handy when you need brochures, fliers, and postcards for your offline marketing efforts. Your marketing VA can design these materials, submit the designs for your approval, and find a company that can print those materials for you. All you have to do is find people that will distribute those materials for you.
  • Get your business listed. Yellow pages, both online and offline are still feasible ways to generate new business. Task your Internet marketing VA into listing your company in national and local online directories like Manta.com. At the same, have your VA find out how you can get listed in printed local directories.
  • Write newsletters. Newsletter is one of the most widely used Internet marketing techniques. Customers and other web site visitors are asked to opt-in to newsletters that are directly sent to their email in regular intervals. Your marketing VA can do your newsletter for you and email it to your subscriber

Tips on Hiring a Web Designer

The advantage of using a template is that you can have your web site up and running in no time at all. Meanwhile, building a web site from scratch will mean that you will have a web site tailored for your business. However, it might take weeks, even months, before you get your web site online.

2. Can you develop my site using a content management system? Most web site owners desire to have full or total control of their web sites. Having your web site built on Joomla or PHP would not allow you that, especially if you are not familiar with these languages. However, building your web site on a CMS like WordPress would make it easier for web site owners like you to add pages to you site, upload content, and make small changes to your web site.

3. What will be the features of my web site? There are few features that your web site must have, including a contact form, an opt-in feature, an About Us page, a Products/Services page, and sticky content. Your web designer or web design team must be able to make recommendations on what features your site should have but not before you give them information about your business. Each feature of the web site should have some significance for your business.

4. Who
