•My passion for something does not necessarily translate into a salable product or service.
•My passion for something should not be the sole reason to create something to sell.
•Just because I like or enjoy something does not mean people will pay for it.
•Being passionate about something is not a reason to start a business.
In my entrepreneurial workshops I meet individuals who want to start a business based on passion. Having something you’re passionate about is good but business sense must prevail. Do your homework; ensure that that service or product you want to offer is needed and can add value in the marketplace. Explore ways to create a brand story that resonates with intended users. Do a survey or poll. Let your passion fuel your drive, commitment and level of service but don’t use it to start a business.
